PHOTOGRAPHY AND PRINTmaking

Ian Barnum

I graduated in 2013 from Green Mountain College with a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts and a certificate in Renewable Energy and Ecological Design (REED).

I have a passion for capturing inspirational moments on analog or digital film. I continue to train my eye and hone my skills to make my projects come to life with light and shadow.

I enjoy taking pictures when on trips and documenting projects as well. At GMC, I took both analog and digital photography classes in which I experimented with light and shadow. After this I became totally inspired with the creativity involved in portraiture and documentation.

In addition, I took printmaking where I found the right skill for carving either linoleium or wood blocks. Then I came up with the idea of using my photography as a subject matter for the prints. I first take a picture from my digital camera, transfer the digital image to photoshop, and then turn everything into black and white for carving the picture to either linoleum or woodcut block. I then add watercolor to complete the artwork.
